You should smile more.

Telling someone - a woman* - to smile is inappropriate. Especially if you don’t really know them (anymore). But generally, it’s just not cool. It’s not funny. It’s not a joke. It’s not a compliment. It’s sexist and ignorant and I’d prefer if you kept your “you need to smile more” to yourself.

This is my face, my body. I - and only I - decide what expression to put on my face. If you don’t like it, well I don’t care. I don’t want to read or hear your opinion and you’re definitely not entitled to comment on it. Don’t tell people to smile. Ever. Don’t be that person.
